Stillsuit

The stillsuit is a full body suit worn in the open desert of Arrakis, and its whole purpose is to keep the water that is already in you. Layers absorb what the body gives off through sweat and urination, filter out the impurities, and circulate what is left to catchpockets, from which the wearer drinks it back through a tube at the neck. The suit covers everything to the neck and the wrists. Gloves come with it, and Fremen doing delicate work take them off and rub their hands with creosote bush leaves instead, since the residue stops the palms perspiring. A facial mask reclaims the moisture of the mouth and face. Fremen-made suits are the best there are, and the only ones that hold up in the deep desert, where the loss can be kept to a thimbleful of water a day. Fremen stillsuit discipline is strict, because a body's water belongs to the tribe.
