The stars that host the worlds of the Imperium, from Canopus over Arrakis to Delta Pavonis over Caladan.
The worlds of the Imperium hang on real stars. Arrakis turns around Alpha Carinae, the white supergiant better known as Canopus, 312.7 light years out from old Earth. Caladan shares Delta Pavonis with Harmonthep, and that system is under twenty light years from Earth. Giedi Prime belongs to the binary 36 Ophiuchi, Salusa Secundus to Gamma Waiping, Ecaz to Alpha Centauri B, and Tleilax to the blue-white giant Theta Eridani A. Old Earth's own sun is on the same list, under its other name, Al-Lat.
