The stars that host the worlds of the Imperium, from Canopus over Arrakis to Delta Pavonis over Caladan and Sigma Draconis over Corrin.
The worlds of the Imperium hang on real stars. Arrakis turns around Alpha Carinae, the white supergiant better known as Canopus, 312.7 light years out from old Earth. Caladan shares Delta Pavonis with Harmonthep, and that system is under twenty light years from Earth. Giedi Prime belongs to the binary 36 Ophiuchi, Salusa Secundus to Gamma Waiping, Ecaz and Logi to Alpha Centauri B, and Tleilax to the blue-white giant Theta Eridani A. Corrin sits in Sigma Draconis, the orange main sequence star also called Alsafi, where the Battle of Corrin was fought in 88 BG. Old Earth's own sun is on the same list, under its other name, Al-Lat.
