House Corrino is the Imperial House of the known universe, holder of the Golden Lion Throne, master of the Sardaukar, with its ancestral fief on Salusa Secundus.
The real foundation is the Sardaukar, the Imperial troops whose reputation says that only the combined armies of every House in the Landsraad could bring them down. The Corrino personal fief is Salusa Secundus, the ancestral world. When the House moves against a rival it prefers to do so at a remove, lending force to somebody else rather than appearing in the quarrel itself.
