House Corrino

For ten thousand years a Corrino has sat on the Golden Lion Throne. The family took both its name and its supremacy from the Battle of Corrin, and while one of its members holds the throne its rule is absolute, backed by a vote in the Landsraad Council larger than any other Great House carries. The real foundation is the Sardaukar, the Imperial troops whose reputation says that only the combined armies of every House in the Landsraad could bring them down. The Corrino personal fief is Salusa Secundus, the ancestral world. When the House moves against a rival it prefers to do so at a remove, lending force to somebody else rather than appearing in the quarrel itself.
