Fremen
The Fremen are the desert people of Arrakis, descended from the Zensunni Wanderers, living in sietches cut into the rock and holding that all water belongs to the tribe.
The Fremen hold Arrakis as their own, the last stop on a migration their oral history remembers only in pieces. They live in collectives called sietches, each set inside one of the rock formations that break the sand, each led by a Naib, and all of them together making up the Ichwan Bedwine, the broad brotherhood. Water governs the rest. A Fremen wears a stillsuit that reclaims the body's moisture, with headgear, mask and noseplugs to catch what the suit would miss, and counts a death as water owed back to the tribe rather than a body to bury. Generations of that discipline, and of being hunted, produced fighters who turn the desert against off-world troops with better equipment and formal training. Spice in everything they eat and drink turns their eyes entirely blue.
