Esmar Tuek runs his smuggling operation out of the polar regions of Arrakis and has been getting spice off the planet at a profit for years. He is a cunning and astute businessman with secret arrangements among the Fremen, which serve him twice over, once as profit and once as a way of undermining Harkonnen rule. When the Emperor replaced the Harkonnens with House Atreides, Duke Leto Atreides persuaded Tuek and his band that their operations would be left alone in exchange for a percentage of what they made. His son is Staban.
