Bene Tleilax

The Tleilaxu inhabit Tleilax, the single planet of the star Thalim, and they are secretive, genetically altered, and cordially loathed almost everywhere else, a reaction that has never dented their appetite for getting the better of their rivals. They began as a religious movement out of Zensunni and Zensufi theology, then buried the religion and let the universe know them instead as a guild of genetic manipulators, the trade that makes them necessary to everyone and welcome nowhere. Their culture is isolationist, strictly hierarchical and driven by religious zeal, and it pursues spiritual elevation through the refinement of flesh. It is male-dominated to a degree other powers find grotesque. The Tleilaxu are divided into classes, each with its own physical appearance and its own function.
