The Traveller's Rest pours the drinks during Roland's youth. It is the one big saloon of Hambry, chief town of the Barony of Mejis: bar, gambling house, and inn of ill fame together, run with a hard hand by Coral Thorin, the mayor's sister. Under its totem of the Bear the town's ranchers, fishermen, hired men, and drifters do their drinking, and whatever news, rumor, or trouble Hambry has generally passes through the Rest on its way around town. In a quiet barony at the edge of the civilized world, it is the room where the rougher company can reliably be found.
