Sylvia Pittston is the huge preacher of the desert town of Tull, who lives alone and comes out on Sundays to deliver hellfire sermons that hold the townsfolk in thrall.
Allie, who keeps the bar in Tull, calls her crazy but says she has the town under her spell, and that the people like it that way. Her speaking voice is sweet and well trained, and she tells her congregation she has worn out three copies of the Good Book in five years. On the night the gunslinger listens, her subject is the Interloper.
