First named in passing in The Gunslinger, the opening book of The Dark Tower, Susan Delgado receives her full story in Wizard and Glass, the fourth, within the long tale of Roland's youth. She is a girl of sixteen in Hambry, in the Barony of Mejis: tall, grey-eyed, with golden hair to her hips, a horseman's daughter more at ease in her late father's work clothes than in anything her aunt Cordelia picks for her. When the tale opens she is bound by a compact her aunt has arranged with Hambry's aging mayor, a bargain that sits heavily on her. On a night road outside town she meets a young stranger newly come to Mejis, and the story of Roland's fourteenth year begins in earnest.
