Selena and Morphia are two of the can-char, the goddesses Mid-World names when it speaks of the clearing at the end of the path. Selena is called the daughter of the moon. Morphia is the daughter of sleep, and she is the Lady of the Black Moon as well, for the moon's dark face and for banishing spells. Both come as beautiful women, both go to those who are badly sick, and both hold out their arms and speak of ease.
