Rhea of the Cöos
Rhea of the Cöos was a witch of the Cöos Hill outside Hambry, a solitary and spiteful woman.
Rhea of the Cöos has white hair that stands out from her head in dirty clumps, a ravaged face, gnarled fingers and scrawny legs, and she goes about in a black dress. Her hut is dingy and cluttered inside, and a cat follows in her shadow with a rusty purr.
Rhea loves the moaning whisper that the wind carries to her from far off, a sound few others care for, and to her it is a lullaby. Where ordinary folk see lovers kissing in the full moon, she holds that there is only one face in it, the face of death. Her age is a mystery to all but the longest-lived people nearby, and even they have only the vaguest idea of it.
