A book whose binding is safe to handle and whose pages are smeared with poison.
The poisoned book looks like any other book and is safe enough to pick up, since the binding carries nothing. The poison is on the pages, and it works on whoever turns them. The victim bleeds from every pore of the body and dies in agony afterward. The physician who examined its work believed the poison to be Dragon's Blood, and reckoned it far too strong for anything he could do about it.
