Pimli Prentiss

Born Paul Prentiss in New Jersey, in the America of our own world, he works for years as a corrections officer before answering a help-wanted advertisement that carries him into stranger employment far from home, and with the new post he takes the name Pimli. He is a heavyset, balding, methodical man, devoutly religious, a believer in routine and procedure, prone to insomnia and worry. Prentiss stands among the figures who have crossed from twentieth-century America into the service of Roland's fallen Mid-World.
