New Canaan
New Canaan is the barony at the heart of the Affiliation, with Gilead, home city of the gunslingers, as its seat.
New Canaan is the heart of the world Roland comes from, and its great city of Gilead is never far from his thoughts. It is a barony of the Affiliation, the league that holds Mid-World's settled lands together, and Gilead, seat of the gunslingers, is its capital. From New Canaan the young gunslingers ride out on the Affiliation's errands, and from there Roland and his friends are sent east to Mejis as counters in the days of his youth. The world has moved on, and New Canaan endures in it as memory, the green land at the center of everything that fell.
