John Farson

John Farson enters The Dark Tower series in The Gunslinger, as a name out of Roland's boyhood in Gilead. Called the Good Man, he is a harrier and stage robber out of the far western lands who gathers a political following while Roland is still a child, preaching an end to the rule of the gun and drawing supporters even inside Gilead's walls. His rebellion is part of the backdrop: Roland Deschain is the last gunslinger of a world that has moved on, and Farson's uprising belongs to the unrest that helped bring that world down. In the early books he is a presence rather than a character, a name attached to treason, rumor, and gathering war.
