John Farson
John Farson leads rebel forces under the name of the Good Man, and even inside the walls of Roland's boyhood home there are those who plot on his behalf.
As a boy, Roland overhears Hax, the castle cook, and a man of the Guards speaking of the good man, of a delivery from the freight depot and of poisoned meat, and the cook swears his devotion to him. Roland's father thinks he knows who the good man is but will not say why catching him would not end the matter. Raids by Farson's rebels help break the supply lines of Roland's youth, though Roland judges him a symptom of the world moving on rather than its cause.
