Eldred Jonas

Eldred Jonas rides at the head of the Big Coffin Hunters, three hired men working the town of Hambry, in Roland's youth. He is an old man with long white hair, a reedy, quavering voice, and a lame leg that gives him a limp, and he is by common account the most dangerous man in Mejis. Rumor says he once trained for the gun in the In-World baronies and was sent west, the exile of those who fail the test, and he carries himself in a way that keeps the rumor alive. In Hambry the three operate under the sheriff's tolerance, wearing the pale blue coffin tattoo on the right hand that gives their crew its name.
