Chloe and S'Mana are two of Mid-World's gods, and they are the ones called on for the dead. A soul is held to be able to lose its way on the road to the clearing at the end of the path, and these two are asked to see it there. Chloe is the goddess of spiritual strength and S'Mana the god of reconciliation, and both are named in the prayer spoken at a funeral.
