Windrunners

The Windrunners are one of the orders of the Knights Radiant, the warriors of Rosharan legend in the Stormlight Archive, which begins with The Way of Kings. Tradition counts ten Radiant orders in the age of the Heraldic Epochs, and the old accounts tie the Windrunners to the sky: stories describe knights who commanded the winds and crossed the heavens, guardians associated with protection and leadership, the attributes of the Herald Jezerezeh, whom Vorin tradition names their patron. Like the rest of the Radiants they are remembered with distrust, for the orders are held to have abandoned humankind long ago in the betrayal called the Recreance, and their powers are counted lost or invented. In the present day the Windrunners survive in old poems, temple art, and soldiers' tales.
