Warform

Warform is the listener form built for fighting. It lays plates of chitin over arms, shoulders, chest, head, and even the fingers, and it grows no hair. A listener in warform runs fast and runs far, jumps chasms, heals quickly enough to nearly ignore an injury, and does not sweat, because the carapace traps air from forward motion and pushes it up underneath to cool the skin. All of that costs food, more than any other form requires. Eshonai counts it a good form, versatile, with great endurance. It does not cloud thought the way mateform does and a listener remains herself in it, but it will not make art, and it sits poorly with scholarship and with abstractions. The change comes during a highstorm and needs a painspren, caught in a gemstone beforehand because they flee once the storm arrives.
