Venli

Venli is a Parshendi scholar introduced in the interludes of Words of Radiance. The Parshendi, the people at war with the Alethi on the Shattered Plains, keep their history in song, and Venli is one of those who study and preserve that music, working to recover knowledge her people have lost across their long isolation. She is slender, with delicate red-and-white marbled skin and waist-length red hair, and she is ambitious: she believes her research matters more than caution allows, and she means to be first to whatever it wins. Her sister is Eshonai, one of the Parshendi's leading warriors, and the two sit at an old friction, the soldier and the scholar, each certain that she is the one who serves their people best.
