The Way of Kings is a book of forty parables written by King Nohadon, each drawn from a real event in his own life and turned into an example. It is among the oldest texts anyone still has, and the only complete one to survive out of the Shadowdays. Kings around the world once studied it daily and it was counted one of the great masterpieces of political philosophy. It is not read that way now. Its association with the Lost Radiants, and its argument that lighteyes stand beneath darkeyes, made it unwelcome in Alethkar and the other Vorin kingdoms, where it sits close to blasphemy. Dalinar Kholin is one of the few who still holds to it and has patterned his life on what it says.
