The Ring

The Ring is a name. It denotes a council: a deliberative body referred to only in passing, whose instructions carry weight with those who answer to it. The references are brief and secondhand, arriving in complaints and asides rather than explanation, and the body's membership, its seat, and the scope of its authority are not described. Events unfold in and around the trench city of Yeddaw in Tashikk, on the western side of Roshar, and it is against that backdrop that the name is overheard. Little else about the Ring is known; the name stands as passing evidence of an order of things beyond the view of the streets.
