The Purelake is the largest inland body of water on Roshar, hundreds of miles across, set in the heart of the continent in what was once the Epoch Kingdom of Sela Tales. It is also barely a lake. The water is glass clear and never more than six feet deep, warm in most places and shallow enough to walk, and it is crowded with tiny fish, colorful cremlings, and eel-like riverspren. Gnarled trees grow straight out of the shallows. When a highstorm comes the water drains away into pits and holes in the rock, and the people there shelter in crevices between stone ridges until it passes. They are Selay by descent but call themselves Purelakers, and they build their cottages low enough that a few inches of water still cover the floor.
