Terris is a land of high mountains whose tall people, the Terrismen, serve as the stewards and attendants the high nobility prefer, among them the soft-spoken Sazed.
A traveller's journal describes snowcapped mountains above green, fertile country, and highlands said to be cold and unforgiving. Terris stewards wear bright robes worked in overlapping V shapes in the colors of their master's house, and they have a name for being rigid and formal, though Sazed shows a quiet, subtle humor. Terris also has its own prophecies.
