The dominant faith of the east, Vorinism, worships the Almighty, honors the ten Heralds as his servants, and remembers the Desolations of the distant past; alongside the Almighty's common titles, the oldest traditions preserve rarer names, and Tanavast is among them, a name the most ancient fragments associate with the divine. Ordinary Alethi do not use it in daily worship. It carries the flavor of old texts and scholars' shelves rather than the sermon hall, and a devout Rosharan could live a full life without hearing it spoken. Beyond the name and its antiquity, the early books establish little, and the figure it names belongs to the deep history of the world.
