Talenel, whom Kalak calls Taln, is one of the Ten Heralds of ancient Vorin theology.
When the Heralds gather after the fighting, Talenel is the one who has fallen, his Blade the only one missing after he held a pass beside the northern waterway. Kalak reflects that Taln tends to take on fights that look hopeless and win them, and to die doing it, which sends him back to a place of nightmares between Desolations. Asked about Taln, Jezrien says only that one man suffering is better than ten. As Talenelat, he stands in a row of Herald statues that Szeth passes.
