Surgebinding

Surgebinding is a power out of Roshar's oldest stories. Legend credits the Knights Radiant of the ancient Heraldic Epochs with command of the Surges, fundamental forces of the world, and old tales describe warriors who strode the sky, stood unmoved by storms, and walked on walls as easily as floors. Modern Rosharans class such accounts with myth; the Radiants are held to have abandoned humanity long ago, and whatever powers they had are counted lost, exaggerated, or invented. Against that certainty, the assassin sent against the king of Alethkar does impossible things, running along walls with light streaming from his skin, in plain sight of men who have no name for what they are seeing.
