Roshar

Roshar is the world of Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive. It is a land of stone scoured by highstorms, immense tempests that sweep from east to west on a rhythm stormwardens try to predict. Life there is adapted to the storms: grass pulls back into the rock, trees fold their leaves, and many creatures wear shells, while everything slowly gains a coat of crem, the mineral sludge left behind by stormwater. Small spirits called spren appear around emotions and natural phenomena, gathering at fear, rot, wind, or pain. Human nations such as Alethkar, Jah Keved, and Azir share the continent, and Vorinism is the dominant faith of the east. The Alethi are prosecuting a war of vengeance against the Parshendi on the Shattered Plains after the assassination of their king.
