Rock

Rock is a bridgeman. He is an Unkalaki, one of the Horneater people of the high peaks between Alethkar and Jah Keved, a tan-skinned man of nearly seven feet with deep red hair and long sideburns he keeps with great pride. His true name is a long Unkalaki phrase that lowlander tongues stumble over, so he tells the men of Bridge Four to call him Rock. Assigned to the doomed bridge crews of Highprince Sadeas's warcamp, he keeps an unlikely good humor, teasing his crewmates and appointing himself their cook; he takes fierce pride in a proper stew, and his pot does as much as anything to make Bridge Four feel like more than a punishment detail. He refuses to fight, claiming that among his people disputes are settled with drinking competitions rather than spears.
