Preservation

Preservation is a name belonging to the deep lore of Scadrial. In the era of the first trilogy, the Lord Ruler's Steel Ministry permits no religion but his own, and the faiths of the world before the empire survive only in the memories of a scholarly few. Among the fragments of that older world is the name Preservation, associated with keeping, protection, and things enduring as they are. It is not a word the empire's people use; no temple stands to it, and the characters meet it, when they meet it at all, in the territory of dead religion and deep history. Beyond the name and its sense, the early books establish little, and the subject it names belongs to the oldest past of the Mistborn world.
