She grants what the seeker desires and lays a curse alongside it, and the curse need not have anything to do with the gift. A man is said to get one chance at her and no more: one desire, one curse, always both. Most take the Nightwatcher for some kind of powerful spren. Little is known about the Old Magic beyond what the people who go looking for it bring back, and asking for it offends the devotaries, since it steps outside their hold on religious life in Vorin culture.
