Nale, called Nalan'Elin in Vorinism, is revered as the Herald of Justice, one of the ten Heralds said to have led humanity through the ancient Desolations in the lore of the Stormlight Archive.
Nale is one of the ten Heralds honored in Vorinism, the dominant faith of eastern Roshar in the Stormlight Archive, which begins with The Way of Kings. Known in Vorin lands as Nalan or Nalan'Elin, he is revered as the Herald of Justice, the embodiment of the divine attributes Just and Confident, and tradition makes him a patron of judges, law, and order. Like the other Heralds he is a figure of scripture: the faith teaches that the Heralds served the Almighty and led humankind through the Desolations of the ancient past, and statues, prayers, and glyphs keep their names alive in the present day. Vorin symbolism assigns each Herald a number, a gemstone, and an essence, and Nalan's name is invoked where law is sworn, judged, or enforced.
