Allomancers burn metals for power, and almost all of them are limited to a single one.
An Allomancer burns metals to draw power out of them, and nearly all of them can burn only one, which makes them a Misting. A Mistborn can burn every Allomantic metal there is. The gift runs in the noble bloodlines of the Final Empire and has thinned as it passed down the generations, so a Mistborn is rare and a strong one rarer still.
