Luthadel is the ash-stained capital of the Final Empire in Mistborn, seat of the Lord Ruler at Kredik Shaw, where noble Great Houses hold balls in fortified keeps and skaa crowd the slums below.
Luthadel is the capital of the Final Empire and the greatest city of Scadrial. It is a city of soot: ash falls from the sky over slum and mansion alike, and everything wears a coat of gray. At its heart stands Kredik Shaw, the Hill of a Thousand Spires, the palace of the Lord Ruler, the immortal emperor who has reigned for a thousand years. The Great Houses of the nobility run commerce from fortified keeps of stone and stained glass and entertain one another at endless balls, while the skaa, the empire's laboring caste, crowd the tenements and die in the mills and forges. At night the mists rise, and most of the city locks its doors against them, in Luthadel's underworld of thieving crews.
