Knights Radiant

The Knights Radiant are orders of warriors out of Roshar's distant past, part of the world's common lore from the opening of The Way of Kings. Tradition remembers ten consecrated orders that fought for humanity during the age of the Heraldic Epochs, centered, the old stories say, at the lost city of Urithiru. They are not remembered kindly. Vorin teaching holds that the Radiants abandoned their duty and betrayed humankind in an act called the Recreance, and the histories name them the Lost Radiants: traitors whose glory ended in desertion. Ordinary Alethi invoke them as a byword for grand promises broken, and the ardentia points to their fall as a lesson in pride. At the start, the Radiants are held to have been gone from the world for centuries.
