Herald

The Heralds are the ten servants of the Almighty in Vorinism, the dominant faith of eastern Roshar in the Stormlight Archive, which begins with The Way of Kings. Scripture teaches that the Heralds, five men and five women, led humankind through the Desolations, the ruinous wars of the ancient past, and that with the final victory at Aharietiam their work was complete. Vorin devotion surrounds them still: each Herald embodies two divine attributes and is assigned a number, a gemstone, and an essence in the faith's symbolism, and their statues stand in temples and palaces across the Vorin kingdoms. Figures such as Jezerezeh, Nalan, and Talenelat serve as patrons of kings, judges, and soldiers. To the modern Vorin world the Heralds are closer to saints than gods: revered, petitioned, and thanked, but firmly of the past.
