Everstorm

The Everstorm is a term bound up with the doomsday lore of Roshar in the Stormlight Archive, which begins with The Way of Kings. The world is scoured by highstorms, immense tempests that come out of the east on a broadly predictable rhythm, and its faiths preserve old warnings of worse: Vorin tradition remembers the Desolations of the ancient past and speaks in its darkest passages of a feared Night of Sorrows, while mainstream teaching holds that the great enemies of humankind were defeated long ago and cannot return. Early, the word Everstorm belongs to scattered, cryptic warnings of a storm unlike the storms Roshar knows. Most who hear such talk class it with ravings and ill omens, and the settled certainty of the age is that no new storm is coming.
