Cord is a daughter of the Horneater Lunamor and twin of Gift, who arrives at the Shattered Plains with her mother and siblings after almost a year apart from her father.
On that first meeting, she and her twin are the only ones of the children who have been taught a lowland tongue, and hers is only Veden, while her brother manages a passable greeting in Alethi. Lopen blames her cooking for keeping him late at lunch, and he suggests her for a mission because she can see spren and is eager to travel farther.
