His first queen, Aemma Arryn, gives him one surviving child, Rhaenyra, whom he names heir to the Iron Throne and never ceases to favor; his second, Alicent Hightower, gives him sons. The rivalry that grows between his daughter and his second family shadows an otherwise sunny reign.
