King Tommen II Lannister ruled the Rock in the years before the War of Conquest. After the Doom brought Valyria down, he took the great fleet of House Lannister east to see what wealth might be pulled out of the ruins, carrying Brightroar, the ancestral Valyrian steel sword of his house. The chronicle titled The Glory of Volantis records that the city welcomed him and its triarchs showered him with gifts, and that he promised them half of whatever he plundered in thanks for their generosity.
