Theon Greyjoy
Theon Greyjoy is Lord Balon Greyjoy's youngest son in A Game of Thrones, held at Winterfell as Eddard Stark's ward and hostage since the Greyjoy Rebellion, a cocky nineteen-year-old raised beside the Stark children.
Raised at Winterfell but born to the Iron Islands, Theon Greyjoy occupies an uneasy place. He is the youngest son of Lord Balon Greyjoy of Pyke, taken as ward and hostage by Lord Eddard Stark after his father's rebellion against King Robert is put down, some nine years before. At nineteen he has grown up alongside Robb Stark and the other Stark children, closer to a brother than a captive, yet never quite either. Theon is handsome, cocky, and quick to smile, proud of his skill with a bow, and free with his charm. Beneath the ease lies the knowledge that his life stands surety for his father's loyalty, and that Pyke and the sea-worn islands of his blood have gone on without him.
