Storm's End is a Baratheon castle by the bay, whose lords include Robert, before he wins his crown, and his youngest brother Renly.
Fifteen years back, when Ned and Robert ride out to win a throne, Robert is its lord, clean-shaven and towering over lesser men. Urging Ned to come south, he says that even there, with a good wind off the water, summer days grow almost too hot to move. Ned names its siege as the place where Stannis proved himself, and Donal Noye, the one-armed armorer at the Wall, smiths for Stannis before losing that arm in the same siege and taking the black.
