Storm's End
Storm's End is the storm-lashed ancestral castle of House Baratheon above Shipbreaker Bay, held by Lord Renly at the start of A Game of Thrones and said never to have fallen to storm or siege.
Storm's End rises above the cliffs of Shipbreaker Bay, ancestral seat of House Baratheon and one of the strongest castles in the world of A Game of Thrones. In the founding legend, the first Storm King, Durran Godsgrief, weds Elenei, daughter of the sea god and the goddess of the wind, and raises castle after castle against the storms her divine parents send, until the seventh stands unbroken. Its seaward wall is eighty feet thick, and men say no storm and no siege has ever brought it down. During Robert's Rebellion the castle holds through a year of siege by the Tyrell host, kept by the king's younger brother Stannis, and at the start Robert has granted the seat to the youngest Baratheon brother, Renly.
