Sandor Clegane
Sandor Clegane, called the Hound, is Prince Joffrey's bodyguard, a man with a terribly burned face and a ready temper.
Sandor Clegane comes north to Winterfell among the king's riders. He is a tall man with a rasping voice, and in the yard one cold morning his squire lowers a black helm over his head and his boy puts a longsword in his hand. He tests its weight with cuts at the air.
He has a routine for mocking Tyrion Lannister, peering this way and that through his helm as if a voice has come from nowhere and crying out about spirits of the air, then looking down and begging pardon for not seeing the little lord standing there. The prince laughs every time. When the noise of a wolf keeps the prince awake, Sandor offers to silence the creature.
