Robb Stark is Lord Eddard Stark's son and the future lord of Winterfell, a big, broad youth with blue eyes, fair skin and red-brown hair.

Robb Stark rides out at daybreak with the party from Winterfell to watch the king's justice done on a prisoner, and he takes the man for a wildling who has sworn his sword to Mance Rayder, styled the King-beyond-the-Wall. The man proves old and scrawny, hardly taller than Robb. Robb and Jon keep steady in the saddle through the sentence, with Bran on his pony between them.

At the feast for the king, Robb walks in dressed in the Stark colors, grey wool edged with white, with Princess Myrcella on his arm. She steals shy looks at him between the tables, and Jon thinks he grins like a fool.

Ned, about to go south on the king's business, wants Catelyn to govern the north in his place and Robb made part of her councils. A Stark must always remain in Winterfell, and Ned says the boy has to learn to rule.
