Princess Rhaena Targaryen was the second daughter of King Aegon III Targaryen and his queen, Daenaera Velaryon, and a granddaughter of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Prince Daemon Targaryen. The World of Ice and Fire counts her among that generation, with her brothers Daeron and Baelor and her sisters Daena and Elaena. She was accounted as lovely as Daena, though hers was a softer beauty, her hair more gold than silver, her eyes kind and her smile shy. In temperament the sisters were opposites: where Daena was wilful and adventurous, Rhaena was dutiful, meek and quiet, fond of lace and gold trim and given to embroidering images of the Faith upon her clothes. At fourteen she was placed with her sisters in the Maidenvault by her brother Baelor, the confinement that gave the three of them the name the Maids in the Tower. Rhaena never chafed at it, and she took vows in the Faith herself.
