Red Keep
The Red Keep is the royal castle of the Seven Kingdoms, raised by Aegon the Conqueror on a hill above King's Landing.
High on Aegon's High Hill above King's Landing stands the Red Keep, the castle of the kings of the Seven Kingdoms and the stage for much of A Game of Thrones. Aegon the Conqueror begins it on the spot where he first lands in Westeros, and it is completed under his son Maegor, whose massive inner holdfast, ringed by a dry moat and iron spikes, still bears his name. Pale red stone gives the castle its own name. Within its walls sit the throne room of the Iron Throne, forged from the swords of the Conqueror's enemies, the chambers where the small council meets, the royal apartments, and the cellars where King Robert keeps the dragon skulls that once hung in the hall. Where the king's court gathers, every ambition in the Seven Kingdoms gathers with it.
