A maester stripped of his chain by the Citadel for forbidden experiments, found afterwards among the mercenaries of the Brave Companions.
Qyburn is a former maester whose chain was taken from him by the Citadel over reports of experiments on the living. His skill as a healer runs well past what most of his order can manage. He rides with the mercenaries of the Brave Companions, and he serves whoever holds power over him without scruple.
