Pyke
Pyke is the sea-worn castle of House Greyjoy in A Song of Ice and Fire, a stronghold standing on stone stacks off the cliffs of its island in the Iron Islands, its keeps and towers linked by rope bridges above the waves.
The seat of House Greyjoy stands where the land gives out: Pyke is a castle built on bare stone stacks off the cliffs of its island, its towers joined by swaying rope bridges above the sea. The cliff it once crowned has crumbled away beneath it, so the Great Keep, the Kitchen Keep, and the Bloody Keep each stand on their own pillar of rock amid the waves. The castle is so old that no one remembers who first raised it. From Pyke the Greyjoys rule the Iron Islands, and from here, nine years before, Lord Balon Greyjoy rises against King Robert; the rebellion is crushed, the wall of Pyke is breached, and Balon's youngest son, Theon, goes to Winterfell as ward and hostage.
