Pycelle

Grand Maester Pycelle serves in King's Landing and has sat on the small council for more than forty years. He forged his chain during the reign of Maekar I Targaryen and has served Aegon V, Jaehaerys II, Aerys II and Robert I in turn. Only sparse hair runs around his bald, spotted head, a snowy beard falls to his chest, and his chain is two dozen heavy chains wound together from neck to breast; in place of the grey robes of his order he wears red velvet with an ermine collar and golden fastenings. Pycelle bends the vows of a maester to suit himself, indulging the flesh and dabbling in poisons and in politics further than most of his order dare. He works quietly in the interests of House Lannister, he has a certain low cunning, and he insists on the respect he believes his office is owed.
