Old Wyk
Old Wyk is the holiest of the Iron Islands in A Song of Ice and Fire, where legend says the Grey King slew the sea dragon Nagga, whose stone ribs still crown the hill where the ironborn of old chose their kings.
Holiest of the Iron Islands, Old Wyk lies between Great Wyk and Orkmont. Ironborn faith and memory center on this island. Here, in the dawn of days, the Grey King of legend is said to have slain Nagga, the first sea dragon, and the Drowned God turned her bones to stone: her ribs still stand on the hill above the bay called Nagga's Cradle, rising like the trunks of great white trees, and among them stood the Grey King's Hall. On Old Wyk the ironborn of old gathered in kingsmoots to raise up their driftwood kings, until hereditary rule ended the custom thousands of years past. Every captain of the isles knows the place, and every priest of the Drowned God honors it.
